WORCESTER, Mass. Four members of the Holy Cross men's basketball team were selected to the 2017 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Holy Cross Leads Nation In NCAA Public Recognition Awards

Once again this year, the College of the Holy Cross is a national leader in the academic success of its student-athletes. Holy Cross had 75 percent of its teams earn NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) public recognition awards, the highest percentage in the country ahead of Gonzaga (73.3 percent) and Dartmouth (73.1 percent).

Malachi Alexander Receives Richard J. Maloney Award

Senior forward Malachi Alexander, a member of the Holy Cross men's basketball team, is the 2016-2017 recipient of the Richard J. Maloney Award. Since 1981, the Maloney Award has been presented annually by the Holy Cross Varsity Club to the men's basketball player who best exemplifies Mr. Maloney's spirit and energy as a loyal contributor to the program.

Holy Cross head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody announced today that Jacob Grandison has signed a national letter of intent to attend Holy Cross and play for the Crusaders. Grandison will be one of six players joining the Holy Cross program in the fall of 2017.

The Crusaders are scheduled to take part in the first-ever Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic, which will take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from Dec. 1-2, 2017. Navy’s George Kiernan hit a three-pointer with 29.2 seconds remaining to break a 42-42 tie and left the Midshipmen to a 49-42 victory over the Holy Cross men’s basketball team in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament at Alumni Hall.
