The College of the Holy Cross has named Bob Chesney its new head football coach, as announced by Director of Athletics Nathan Pine. Chesney, who becomes the 28th head coach in the history of the program, has posted a winning record in each of his eight seasons as a collegiate head coach. He will begin his responsibilities at Holy Cross immediately.
Following a 10-day break for final exams, the Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to action when it plays host to Iona at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19. The game between the Crusaders and the Gaels will be televised live by Charter TV3 and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
The Crusaders will play 17 regular season games and nine home games.
Holy Cross freshman guard Austin Butler has been named the Patriot League The Rock Rookie of the Week, for competition from Dec. 4-10. Butler helped lead the Crusader men's basketball team to a 1-1 record in a pair of games last week.
Senior guard Infiniti Thomas-Waheed has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from Dec. 4-10. Thomas-Waheed averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as the Holy Cross women's basketball team went 1-1 in a pair of games last week.

The Holy Cross men's track and field team had two athletes place first at the Husky Invitational.

Freshman guard Austin Butler scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Holy Cross men's basketball team to a 62-58 victory over New Hampshire at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders improve to 3-6 on the season with the win, while the Wildcats fall to 2-8 overall.
