In 2015, Kashurba led a Holy Cross defense which ranked second in the Patriot League in scoring defense (22.6 points/game), total defense (377.8 yards/game) and passing defense (222.5 yards/game). In addition, three defensive players earned All-Patriot League honors in defensive end Dewayne Cameron, linebacker Kyle Young and strong safety Matt Bhaya.
Kashurba joined the Crusaders after serving as the defensive passing game coordinator and safeties coach at Bucknell University from 2012-2013. The Bison also led the Patriot League in total defense (347.5 yards per game) during Kashurba’s first year on the staff in 2012.
Prior to his time at Bucknell, Kashurba was an assistant coach at Allegheny College for nine seasons, serving as the defensive coordinator for his final six years. During his time at Allegheny, he coached 21 All-North Coast Athletic Conference selections, while the defense stood among the conference leaders in virtually every statistical category. He also spent one year as an assistant coach at Mansfield University in 2002.
During his days as an undergraduate, Kashurba was a two-sport star at Grove City College. He played both quarterback and defensive back for the football team, earning All-President’s Athletic Conference honors in 1998 and 1999. Kashurba also played shortstop on the baseball team, serving as team captain for two seasons.
Kashurba is a 2002 graduate of Grove City with a bachelor’s degree in business and communications and a minor in political science. He went on to receive a master’s degree in exercise science and health promotion from California (Pa.) University in 2011. Kashurba and his wife, Katrina, have one son (Niko).
