McBeath Named Patriot League Defensive Player Of The Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior linebacker Nick McBeath has been named the Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s victory at Fordham. This marks the third time McBeath has earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors this season.

During the 42-20 win over the Rams, McBeath totaled nine tackles with a pass breakup and quarterback hurry. He also recovered a fumble in the first quarter and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown to give the Crusaders a 7-0 lead. In addition, McBeath played a key role in holding Fordham All-America running back Chase Edmonds to just 63 yards on 20 carries.

On the season, McBeath has now recorded 105 total tackles with four sacks, 11 tackles for loss and two interceptions. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has totaled 313 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, three interceptions, four forced fumbles and eight pass breakups.

The Crusaders (4-6 overall, 3-2 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, when they conclude the regular season with a 12:30 p.m. game at Lehigh.
