WORCESTER — Lauren Manis led Bishop Feehan High in Attleboro to a basketball state championship her senior season and the thrill of that accomplishment is something she will never forget and one she wants to replicate at Holy Cross.
“I would love to win a Patriot League championship,” said Manis, the 2016-17 PL Rookie of the Year. “Winning states my senior year of high school, there was nothing like that and I hope to have that feeling once again here, and I think we can do it.”
The 6-foot-1 Manis averaged 13.3 points and a team-best 7.6 rebounds last season, while becoming the fourth player in HC women’s history to win PL Rookie of the Year honors.
After a full season of experience — the forward started every game as a freshman — a summer of working out, and a productive and promising preseason, Manis seems primed for a great sophomore year. She played well in the Crusaders’ closed scrimmage with Harvard and had 22 points and 12 rebounds in last weekend’s exhibition win over Assumption.
