After a nice Easter Sunday with our families, we came back ready to prepare for our game against Columbia on Wednesday. We started the day with a fun shoot-around and went into the locker room to watch film on Columbia. Then, we headed back out to the field for a solid two hours of practice. In practice we worked on our ride on the clear and got to run off our Easter meal with some sprints. TWO DAYS UNTIL GAME DAY!!

Tuesday, April 9, 2015

Picture Day!! We ran outside in the rain to quickly get our team picture taken. We smiled then sprinted back inside to change and put on layers for practice. The wind and the rain actually helped us prepare for the conditions that we were going to see in our game against Columbia! Hopefully our team picture is nice and pretty. ONE DAY UNTIL GAME DAY!!

Wednesday, April 10, 2015

GAME DAY!! After a close game and a hard fight, we were able to pull out our first out of conference win against Columbia. It was a great day to be a Crusader, especially for junior Allison Hoffman (Hingham, Mass.), who looks so much better in purple. In the game, we were a minute away from going into our fourth overtime game, until senior captain Laura Ryan (Stirling, N.J.) saved the day and scored the game-winner in the last 18 seconds! The offense and defense played well together, and our new double exchange in the midfield was successful!

Thursday April 11, 2015

Today, our preparation begins for beating Navy. We have been working hard on our fundamentals of throwing and catching, and today's practice finally showcased our hard work. Our defense focused on playing extra aggressively to prepare the attack for the strong Navy defenders. After a good two-hour practice, we headed back into the locker room to watch film on Navy and go over our four page scouting report! TWO DAYS!!!

Friday April 12, 2015

Today we left campus at around 9:00 a.m. for the airport to go down to Navy. Once we arrived, we got settled in at the hotel and had two hours to walk around, hang out, and mentally prepare for practice. We then headed to practice at 6:30 p.m. under the lights in the Navy stadium. We got on the field right after Navy's men's lacrosse team had practice and began to adjust to the huge field. After working on many clears and draws, we began to feel more and more comfortable to take on the Navy Midshipmen. We had a very productive and upbeat practice, and even gave some digits to a handsome Navy Seal-to-be (or should we say husband-to-be?). For dinner we split up and got to explore the Annapolis area. Some of us went to Chili's and others went to Panera, but we went to Whole Foods. Our meal money was well spent. Overall it was a very successful day, and we are ready for the big game tomorrow! ONE DAY!!

Saturday April 13, 2015

GAME DAY! This was our second to last Patriot League game of the regular season, so it was a very big day for us. We woke up, had a hardy breakfast at the hotel, and headed off to Annapolis. Our game wasn't scheduled until 3:30 p.m., so we had some time to stroll around the town.  Annapolis is beautiful and right on the water. After grabbing some lunch and some sun rays in town, it was time to get serious for our game. We arrived to the stadium and began to mentally prepare ourselves for what was ahead of us. The hype was most definitely there at the United States Naval Academy stadium for the men's highly anticipated Navy vs. Army game that was being played before us. The entire stadium was filled as we walked out into the field to begin our game. We unfortunately came out flat in the first half and did not see the results we had worked so hard for. However, we turned it around in the second half. We capitalized on draw controls and went on a scoring streak. In the end, we couldn't dig ourselves out of the hole we made in the first half. It was a tough loss, but we know what we have to do next week to prepare for Harvard and Lehigh.

Sunday, April 14, 2015

HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY TESS!!!!!!! Today we have a well-deserved day off. We have worked so hard the past week and were thankful to have a day to rest our legs. We will be ready and focused for practice tomorrow in order to prepare for the big week ahead of us!

Week 8

Sophomores Hannah Dinardo (Weston, Mass.), Anna Johnson (Summit, N.J.) and Maddie Ward (Norwell, Mass.) continue the team's blog.

Monday, March 30, 2015

Day off! Today we enjoyed a restful day off from lacrosse, but had to go into the lift room to pump some iron. Emily led us through some dynamic warm-ups and we then headed to the racks for benches and cleans. It was nice to take the day off from lacrosse after a busy weekend and take a few extra hours to get ahead on schoolwork for the week. This week we don't have a game on Wednesday so we have a few extra practices to get us ready to beat Bucknell. 5 DAYSSSSSS!!!

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

Today we had a productive hour and half practice. We held each other accountable for our mistakes and worked on limiting our unforced turnovers. We worked on some man-up and man-down situations. We then went inside to watch film on Bucknell.

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Today we partner lifted during the day and then watched film before practice. At practice we worked on playing a zone defense to prepare our attackers for our Saturday game. We also worked on defending the cutters and our clears. We had a productive practice preparing for Bucknell. Three days!!!!

Thursday, April 2, 2015

No school!! Today we got to enjoy a restful day off from school and focus on practice to beat Bucknell. We had an early practice 10-12 and worked on drills in order to prepare for what Bucknell will bring. The defense again worked on playing a zone defense to help our attackers and our attackers drove hard to net and focused on specific plays to help better the defense. We also worked on clearing the ball out of the net to help the goalies focus on successfully clearing the ball out. After practice, everyone enjoyed a nice team lunch at Kimball and then we headed back up to Hart for a light shoot around. The shoot around helped our attackers focus on placing the ball in the net. These two practices prepared us for what Bucknell is all about. 2 DAYSSSS!!

Friday, April 3, 2015

ONE DAYYY! Again, no school for us Catholic students so we were able to enjoy a work free night. We worked a lot on situational plays; defense being man down and offense being man up. These tactics help us become better prepared for what Bucknell may throw at us. As a team, I believe we have prepared ourselves well and are ready for tomorrow. ONE DAY!!!!!!!

Saturday, April 4, 2015

GAMEDAY!!!! Today we were so excited to put our week of hard work to test and prove ourselves to Bucknell and the rest of the Patriot League. We had a week full of practice and film and could not have been more prepared to face Bucknell. We started the day off with a delicious 10:00 a.m. breakfast at Kimball. We then headed up to the locker room to get in some extra wall ball and treatment before we went outside for warm up. We headed out for our warm up at noon where the 40 MPH winds nearly blew us away! However, we weren't going to let the wind stop us from a great win against Bucknell. After a long hard-fought 60 minutes we were tied with Bucknell 10-10. We then went into overtime where we scored two goals and came away with a 12-10 win. We were excited to go home for Easter coming off such a great win and look forward to spending the day with our families!

Week 7

Freshmen Vanessa Amendola (Manorville, N.Y.) and Julia Maloney (Loudonville, N.Y.) discuss the team's week.

Monday, March 23, 2015

After a tough loss against Lafayette yesterday, we shifted our focus and started preparing for our game on Tuesday against Fairfield. The team had a soft tissue stretch with our lift coach, Emily, so that we wouldn't be too sore for our game. Then we watched film on our opponents but did it in shifts so that we could get as much practice in as possible. While outside, the defense worked on footwork using ladders and the offensive practiced passing and catching. When we all got back together the team did some shooting drills and ended with some good-looking 7v7 sets. ONE DAY!!!

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

GAME DAY!!! We all hustled up from our classes to get on the bus for the long ride to Fairfield. The weather was pretty mild during warmup but as the sun went down so did the temperature and it got a little chilly! Although early on in the first half we were down by three goals, the team kept pushing and the lead went back and forth for the rest of the game. Despite playing outstanding during regular and over time, Fairfield came up with the win in the second half of overtime, ending the game at a score of 7-6.

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

After playing two games in the span of three days, we were given a day off in order to rest and recuperate before our big Patriot League game on Saturday. However, the captains did ask the team come up to Hart to watch film on Loyola in order to prepare as much as possible so that we can take down the Greyhounds!

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Today the team had a busy day of lacrosse! Coach Kat Sutton had small groups come up to Hart to in the morning to do some shooting drills. We watched more film on Loyola, and then went out in the pouring rain to practice. Despite the downpour, we had a successful practice and worked on all aspects of the game from ground balls to shooting. After practice we all went to the student-athlete date auction in support of the Big Brother Big Sister Program where our very own sophomore Hannah Dinardo was auctioned off!! Only two days until Loyola!!

Friday, March 27, 2015

In preparation for our game against Loyola, we watched film again at 4:15 p.m. on the dot for 40 minutes prior to practice in order to know their style of play in and out. We then headed out to the astro-turf in for 30 minutes in order to warm up our bodies and sticks before we could go down to the field turf. Coach invested in a lovely "clicker" device in order to keep track of every dropped ball, poor pass, missed ground ball and even lack of urgency in a play. It added pressure to us as we played but it was the pressure we needed because it was similar to the way we feel in a game. Even though we didn't like it too much, we knew that it was making us better with one less mistake at a time.

Saturday, March 28, 2015

GAME DAY! Let's go Saders! We all woke up bright and early to have a team meal at our one and only Kimball at 9:00 a.m. It wouldn't be a home game with out it snowing almost the entire duration of the game. Even though we had a huge improvement with a lot less unforced turnovers (thanks clicker), we couldn't catch up after Loyola's four-goal run in the first half. But we did tie in goals in the second half so we knew we were capable of the W; the final score was 13-8.

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Time to relax after two exhausting games in one week. The good news is we only have three more days of classes until Easter Break so we can put all of our energy towards our game against Bucknell Saturday!

Week 6

Sophomores Meighan Grady (Darien, Conn.), Mary Patalita (Alexandria, Va.) and Maddy Smith (Menands, N.Y.) continue the team's blog.

Monday, March 16, 2015

Today the team had a long day at Hart with lift, film and a full two-hour practice, all to get ready for BU on Wednesday. At lift it was bench day, needless to say, our arms are going to be a little sore tomorrow! We all went out to practice anticipating cold, per usual. But halfway through our stick warm up all of the layers started coming off! 45 degrees in Worcester really feels like spring is on its way. Running around in short sleeve shirts we did 1v1 chaos, 4v4s, draws to cage, scrimmaging (go good guys!) and 7v7. TWO DAYS!!!!!!

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!!!!!!!!!! The luck of the Irish brought on many surprises! First, we found out we would be braving the cold on Wednesday a couple hours early in our game against BU. The game was moved from 6 to 4 in order to soak in those last rays of sun. Next, our regular schedule was changed up to accommodate our lovely men's lacrosse team who played Hartford. We watched more film to get ready for BU and then had an hour to support the boys (we're so kind). After that, we had a late night practice out on Holy Cross Field. Practice was VERY windy, but we powered through to prepare ourselves for the same conditions at Wednesday's game. With all the commotion on campus, your studious HCWLAX ladies headed to dinner, library, or the dorms to get a good nights with dreams of being 3-0 in the Patriot League. ONE MORE DAY UNTIL WE'RE STILL UNDEFEATED IN THE PATRIOT LEAGUE!!!!

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Bundle up Crusaders, it's GAME DAY!!!! Today our game got moved up to 4:00 p.m. because despite the recent warm weather, we sunk back down to wind chills in the teens with 30 mph winds! We came out strong and took the early 1-0 lead and continued that lead into halftime. As half time came we went back into the locker room to warm up a bit with a solid 5-3 lead. Despite giving it our all on the field, we came up short in overtime against BU, 9-8 in overtime. We were bummed at the outcome however we are still proud of our accomplishments throughout the game and are hungry to see them again in the PL Tourney.

Thursday, March 19, 2015

Today we went out for practice with the goal of preparing for our next game against Lafayette! We had a quick talk in the locker room with the captains to get everyone back on track for where we want to be this season, PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! At practice we were excited to move past our BU game and onto our next Patriot League opponent! We worked on many aspects of the game, shooting, catching and passing and 7v7. Finally, we headed inside to watch some film!

Friday, March 20, 2015

We had an early wakeup call this morning as we took the field for practice at 7:00 a.m. in anticipation of a long day of classes and departure for Lafayette right after class. As we stretched Coach told us that our game got moved to Sunday at noon because of the anticipated snow in PA. We can't seem to escape the snow! During practice we worked on competitive GB's (everyone's favorite), issue drill (everyone's actual favorite, no sarcasm this time), and 7 v 7 to hone our skills for Lafayette on Sunday. After practice we had soft tissue work with Emily, our lift coach, and headed to a full day of school #studentathletes am I right? Friday afternoon we simply did not know what to do with our free time with no afternoon practice! What it must be like to be a NARP (non-athlete regular person)! A bunch of us headed to Flying Rhino. Two sleeps until Lafayette!!

Saturday, March 21, 2015

ONE DAY! Today we woke up and had a quick hour and a half practice at home. We were surprised to see the turf covered in snow when we got out there! Despite the conditions we pushed through as we had our eyes on our game tomorrow. After practice we showered and packed up at Hart. We hopped on the bus and headed straight to Lafayette. Along the long ride we watched She's the Man, film on Lafayette and did a little homework. We had two special guests on our bus ride as Coach's kids Emma and Michael joined us! Upon our arrival at the hotel a lot of us were excited about our single hotel rooms! We went to dinner and rested up for our big game tomorrow. One sleep until Lafayette!!!

Sunday, March 22, 2015

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY LINDSAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were greeted by the sun, warm weather and TONS of alumni at Lafayette for our game! We woke up and had a stellar breakfast, equipped with omelettes and fresh fruit! We were lucky to have Emma and Michael join us in the hotel and on our way to the game. We took a quick trip from the hotel to Lafayette where we began to prepare to take on the Leopards. Despite our best hustle and fight, we were unable to come back from the hole we had dug ourselves in the first half of the game. But, we did win the second half, resulting in a 13-9 loss against Lafayette. Delicious tailgate and a ride back to Worcester ahead of us. Looking forward to our next game, Tuesday at Fairfield.

Week 5

Sophomores Tess MacKay (Simsbury, Conn.) and Lauren Raffensperger (Bethesda, Md.) discuss the team's week.

Monday, March 9, 2015

In preparation for Brown, promptly at 3:30 p.m., we watched film for an hour in our locker room learning key strategic ways to exploit Brown. After the hour of film finished we cheered on the men's lacrosse team as they unfortunately lost against Harvard as we were waiting for the field turf. Immediately after the game finished we hurried onto the field for a two-hour practice.

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

GAME DAY! Go Cross, beat Brown! Finally a game where the cold weather was bearable. Only a day preparation for Brown we were excited and pumped to beat them as years past we were not so successful. With 4:07 remaining in the second half and Brown leading 10-7, we answered back with three goals to make it 10-10. Fighting our hearts out Brown slipped away with the goal with 11 seconds remaining in the game making it 11-10 Brown.

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

After an exhausting battle on Tuesday against Brown, we turned our focus onto battling against American this Saturday in Washington, D.C.  With being 1-0 with the win against Colgate last weekend, we wanted to continue our success within the Patriot League and to be 2-0. A fairly relaxed practice, we worked on getting use to astro turf and working on our stick skills.

Thursday, March 12, 2015

Exhausted from the enormous load of homework weighing on our shoulders from mid-term week, our practice was not what we were hoping for right before our big game against American.  Brushing this practice aside we knew tomorrow's practice had to be better.

Friday, March 13, 2015

Our day started at 8:45 a.m. arriving up at Hart getting on the bus to Logan Airport in Boston for our away game against American. We had an 11:30 a.m. flight and landed in BWI Airport around 2:00 p.m. only to get on another bus headed to American. In anticipation for a competitive game on Saturday, we broke up into two teams: Good Guys "Angels" and Bad Guys "Devils" battling against each other in competitive drills. We played with great enthusiasm and determination to beat American. As a team we are so fortunate that Mary Patalita's parents decided to host the team over for dinner on Friday night. When we were driving to Mary's house she gave us a tour of Washington, D.C.

Saturday, March 14, 2015

GAME DAY!! In fear that it was going to rain, we tightened our sticks and put tape on the shaft so that the rain would not affect our play. Walking out to the field, we knew we could not under estimate American, as they will fight until the end and play all 60 minutes of the game. A game with many fouls, and yellow cards did not slow us down and we secured the win against American, 15-10. Following the game, Lauren Raffensperger's family invited the team over for the tailgate at her house.

Sunday, March 15, 2015

Time to relax!! After mid-term week, the game against Brown and traveling to American, we were exhausted. Even though we had this day off, our minds were on the Wednesday game against Boston University.

Week 4

Sophomores Elizabeth Furman (Garden City, N.Y.), Avery Giorgio (Madison, Conn.) and Tess MacKay (Simsbury, Conn.) continue the team's blog.

Monday, March 2, 2015

Day one of spring break and BC is on our mind! We started with an hour shoot around on the astro turf to get our sticks ready for a good practice. Our attack worked on feeding, cutting and placing our shots, meanwhile our defense was able to work on long passes and competitive ground balls. We then went back inside for a team lift working on speed and explosions. After that we had a solid hour practice that night working on our ride and 7v7!! 1DAY!! BEAT BC

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

GAMEDAYYY!! The sun was out and we are ready! The day started with a team meal at Kimball and then everyone headed up to the locker room to play some wall ball and get ready for the big game!! We started off very strong in the first half but couldn't seem to finish the game off in the second half. Some positive notes from the game were that freshman midfielder Maddie Warwick scored her first collegiate goal!!! In addition Laura Ryan added 2 goals and Tess MacKay and Kaitlin Concilio each added 1 goal! Although we didn't win we learned a lot from playing such a great team!

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Brushing yesterday's game off, Colgate is the only thing on our mind! The day started off early with a film session followed by a team meeting and then a lunch break!! We then headed back up to Hart for a shoot around and practice!! Practice makes perfect! Not to mention we also had a team lift following practice! Getting strong to beat Gate!

Thursday, March 5, 2015

Taking full advantage of no classes we had a jam packed day of lacrosse!! Rest is for the weak!! We started off with an hour of film at 11:00 a.m.! We then got a lunch break followed by a shoot around where we got our sticks ready for a full two-hour practice at our home away from home.... Fore Kicks! In between shoot around and practice, six girls and the coaches went to Burncoat High School and gave a speech on respect and sportsmanship!! At fore kicks we worked a lot on clears, 1v1s, and fast ball movement in our attack!! Following this long day we took a group trip to Wooberry to celebrate Kate Martino's birthday!! 2 DAYSSSS

Friday, March 6, 2015

Rise and shine it's a great day for morning practice and a bus ride to Colgate!! Early wake up on the hill for a beautiful 90 minute practice on the astro turf! We worked today mostly on clears, ground balls and 7v7 in preparation for our HUGE GAME tomorrow!! We hit the showers then the road real quick!! With our awesome bus driver Rick we made it to Colgate in a short 4.5 hours starving for a great meal at the one and only VJS!!! A team meal was followed by many rounds of charades including acts by both our coaches!! This long day of traveling and a big game tomorrow called for an early lights out!! 1SLEEPTILLGAMEDAYYY

Saturday, March 7, 2015

It's GAMEDAYYY and we couldn't be more excited and prepared!! We start our morning with a great meal back at our fav place VJS!  Everyone is in a great mood and ready to BEAT COLGATE!! We arrive to the field early allowing for an extra 15 minutes to shoot around and work on some ground balls on the astro turf! Little did we know this 60 minute game was going to turn into a 75 minute battle leaving us on top!! In our third sudden death overtime Laura Ryan gave Kaitlin Concilio an amazing feed on which she was able to put it past the Colgate goalie!! We followed our cheer to the fullest today playing with all of our HEART as a team!!

Week 3

Sophomores Meg Ayers (Scituate, Mass.) and Natalie Colonna (Montgomery, N.J.) coming at you live.

Sunday February 22, 2015

Today is our day off and we chose to meet up in the locker room before captain's practice. We live love lax! We came together to discuss the direction of our season after a disappointing loss against Sacred Heart. We spent an hour really getting at everything that hasn't been working and resetting out systems reminding ourselves about all the great goals we have set for ourselves. After our regrouping session we headed out for some partner passing, some cutting drills and a lot of 7v7 to keep our sticks hot on our day off.

Monday, February 23, 2015

Today with the bitter cold we were lucky to get the indoor facility Forekicks from 3-5 p.m. to get back playing with Coach and Meghan at the helm. We started practice with a new refocused mindset to fully take advantage of the full field inside. Sprint to every drill, get there and be efficient! We worked on multiple aspects of the game including: protection, fitness, offensive plays and ground balls. Everyone was thankful to get a good sweat in after all the snow and cold in the 508.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Tuesday we were a bummed to find out that our game against BC was cancelled due to weather. We made the best of it by still going outside and watching some film in order to get ready for our next game! We are looking forward to our game Saturday against UMass, (coach's alma matter)!

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

Wednesday!!! Our favorite night to play lacrosse instead of sleep! Wednesdays we have team lift at 4:00 p.m. with our trainer Emily, #GETBIG! After lift we say our goodbyes with the comfort that we will be reunited five hours later. At 8:30 p.m. promptly we loaded into our vans #swag, to head off to FORE KICKS! Again, it was a great day (well, night) to get a sweat in and to work towards a win against UMass! We finished practice, drove home and immediately fell asleep!

Thursday, February 26, 2015

Today was another cold one, folks! Unfortunately we were unable to stay outside for a full two hour practice but once again we made the best of it. We warmed up inside in order to maximize our time on the field. The first half hour of practice was filled with a lot of energy and friendly competition with ground ball drills and some re-defending. When our 30 minutes were up we headed back inside to watch UMass on film as we de-thawed and got ready to head back outside for another intense half hour of practice. TWO DAYS!!

Friday, February 27, 2015

Spring break started off with some balmy weather with a high of 30 degrees which was a treat for us during our hour of shooting around and stick work on the astro turf today. It was great to finally play with a few less layers on! For the next hour we went into the weight room for some deep tissue massaging and stretching with our lift coach Emily to help get rid of any soreness before the game tomorrow. Once we were all loosened up we were ready for another great practice. The defenders worked a lot on clearing the ball from the defensive end while the attackers worked on re-defending them. ONE DAY!!

Saturday, February 28, 2015

GAME DAY!! Everyone came out excited and pumped up for the big game against UMass today. We prepared all week for this game by being super aggressive at practice and pushing each other as hard as we could. We had a solid game plan and we were able to hold our own for the first half with a score of 2-2. Despite our best efforts we were unable to pull out the W. We will learn from our mistakes and use them to push us even harder the next couple days in order to get ready for our next game against BC.

Week 2

Juniors MacKenzie Bozel (Hunt Valley, Md.), Jersey Burns (Salem, N.H.), Casey Drollinger (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and Allison Hoffman (Hingham, Mass.) discuss the second week of the season.

Sunday, February 15, 2015

Today is our first off-day of the season, which is much needed after a full game outside yesterday versus Bryant. We will use today as a day to catch up on schoolwork, much needed sleep, and mentally reset ourselves for another week of practice and game preparation!

Monday, February 16, 2015

After yesterday's day off we really began both physically and mentally preparing to play New Hampshire this Wednesday! Today was yet another freezing day up on Mount Saint James. Thankfully coach was prepared and had Forekicks booked for practice. Before leaving, we gathered in the locker room and watched some film. When we got to Forekicks we started with jamming out to some music while stretching. We did a lot of stick work and different drills befitting spending a decent amount of time doing 7v7.

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Today we got to practice on our own field, even better while it was snowing! Coach and Meghan really got a workout today clearing the remaining frozen patches while the rest of the team warmed up our sticks. We then went into a drill for our team to practice both clearing the ball out as well as re-defending. 1 DAY!!

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

After a long countdown all through fall ball we've finally reached the moment we've all been waiting for....Our first home game of the 2015 season!! Today the Wildcats of UNH came back to play us after hosting them in a competitive fall ball match-up. A big thanks goes to the wonderful crew who worked diligently to prep and get our field ready for game time. After preparing hard in practice and analyzing film we felt ready to start our home schedule with a solid performance. After a hard-fought half hour of play, we found ourselves held at a tie at the half 5-5. We came back out strong but unfortunately with a combination of unlucky post shots and good UNH offense, we fell 12-10. Despite the loss, we'll take the experience in stride for the rest of the season and use it as motivation to push our capabilities as a team even further.

Thursday, February 19, 2015

With Worcester being the snowiest city in the country this year, it's no surprise that Mother Nature managed to throw a wrench into our practice schedule again today. However, with our coaching staff's ability to adapt to the conditions, they still had a plan for us so we were able to prepare for our game on Saturday versus Sacred Heart. With a solid session of film, stick work, and talk about new plays, today was a productive day despite being inside. We were also lucky to snag treadmills in the gym to get solid conditioning in as well to get our legs ready to play! 2 DAYS!!

Friday, February 20, 2015

Today we all headed up to the weight room at some point before practice to do some soft tissue work with our lift coach. We all left feeling a little less sore and were ready to have a great practice later that day! Due to the freezing temperatures, we went to Forekicks, our usual go-to indoor facility. We had a productive practice and are really feeling ready to get our first win against Sacred Heart tomorrow!!

Saturday, February 21, 2015

GAME DAY!! After a team breakfast at our dining hall, we got right on the bus and made our way down to Sacred Heart. It was a chilly day and there was an impending snow storm, but we were excited to get out there and play! After coming out strong at the start of the first half, we began to lose momentum and unfortunately had trouble all game getting the ball in the back of the net. By the final buzzer, the field was covered with snow and Sacred Heart was ahead on the score board. We were disappointed with how we played but now we are determined to learn and grow as a team and form a new game plan going forward. Even with a tough schedule ahead of us, we are extremely motivated to get that first win.

Week 1

Juniors Margie Smith (Mountain Lakes, N.J.), Katie Boyle (Devon, Pa.), Kaitlin Concilio (Ridgewood, N.J.), and Kate Martino (Summit, N.J.) kick start this season's blog.

Monday, February 9, 2015

Hello Crusader fans and welcome to the HCWLAX 2015 season blog! Worcester has become the snowiest city in the nation this winter, causing us to have to practice inside often. Today, our entire campus was closed, which meant no classes and no practice! This day off gives us some time to mentally prepare and rest for our first game of the season against Bryant in 5 days!!!!

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Today we finally had a full two-hour practice outside! The snow isn't stopping us today. The field was plowed for us, but part of our conditioning was a shoveling race to clear some of the ice off of the field to make it less slippery. We got in some 7v7 to prepare for Saturday and worked on a few of our plays! 4 DAYS!

Every Wednesday for the first eight weeks of our season we go to Forekicks, an indoor facility with turf fields, from 9-11 p.m. Even though it's late, we always get great team practices in when the weather is bad or the temperature is too cold outside. Everyone can attest to how nice it is to finally wear shorts and a t-shirt instead of piling on layers when practicing outside! Assistant coach, Meghan Smith, even brought the speakers to make stretching and stick work more fun. While inside, we scrimmaged and played more 7v7. Even though the fields inside are smaller than what we are used to, we utilized them as well as we could by practicing our ride on attack. The team is getting very excited to finally get the season started. 3 DAYS!!

In order to avoid the potential afternoon snowstorm, small groups went outside at different times throughout the day for an hour to get in some stick work and shooting. Luckily, we were able to defy the snow! When we came back outside for our practice in the afternoon there was already about two inches of snow on the turf, but that didn't stop us…bring out the shovels! We did some more shoveling conditioning to clear below the thirty yard line to work on 7v7 and clears. 2 DAYS!!!

Today we got in another hour and half at Forekicks to make sure we had a solid practice the day before our first game. It was great to get inside and out of the single digit degree weather. HC women's soccer could agree - they practiced on the field next to us! We practiced defending the cutters on defense and worked on our plays once again. We had a really great practice and everyone was so excited for the start of the 2015 season! 1 DAY!!! BEAT BRYANT!

GAME DAY!! (and happy Valentine's Day) Meghan had a little surprise for our bus ride to Bryant. She made a recap video of our preseason with her GoPro as a pregame pump up! Unfortunately, today's game ended in a loss but there are many more games to come! We are really looking forward to taking what we learned with us into what will be a great 2015 season! Our next game is our home-opener against New Hampshire and we are excited to take what we learned today and continue to improve!
