Volleyball Falls To Central Connecticut, 3-0
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – CCSU posted a .304 hitting percentage and had four players record double-digit kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Central Connecticut, 3-0, by scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-21 at Detrick Gymnasium on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-11 overall, while CCSU improves to 8-5 overall.
Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) tallied her 11th double-double of the season and the 38th of her career with 14 kills and 13 digs. She now has 992 career kills. Freshman Alicia Swearingen (Springdale, Ark.) posted a team-best .357 hitting percentage as she recorded seven kills. Swearingen also picked up nine digs. Freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) posted 26 assists and a season-best five blocks, while senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) led the team with six blocks.
Central Connecticut was led by Emily Cochran who posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, while Blaike King also had a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Jamie Rademacher and Sara Delacey each tallied 10 kills. Danielle Gasser recorded 43 assists, while Brittany Schumacher posted 22 digs and Jennifer Waddill recorded four blocks.
The Crusaders return to action when they start Patriot League competition with a match at Lafayette on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m. and a contest at Lehigh on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4:00 p.m.
