Volleyball Upended By American, 3-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Eagles recorded an outstanding .413 hitting percentage as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to American, 3-0, by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-6 in Patriot League action at Bender Arena on Friday night. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 7-21 overall (3-8 Patriot League), while the Eagles improve to 18-10 overall (10-1 Patriot League).

Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders with seven kills and junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) posted a team-best nine digs. Freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) tallied 14 assists and freshman Alicia Swearingen (Springdale, Ark.) notched six kills.

American was led by Rebecca Heath who tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Monika Smidova notched 20 assists and Sara Rishell led the team with 13 kills.

The Crusaders return to action when they play Navy in Annapolis, Md., on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Wesley A. Brown Field House at noon.
