FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Sacred Heart, 3-0, by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-14 on Friday night on the first day of the Sacred Heart Invitational. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-2 overall, while the Pioneers improve to 2-2. Holy Cross continues play in the tournament on Saturday when it meets Rider at 9:00 a.m. and Bryant at 3:00 p.m.

Junior co-captain Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) and freshman Mallaigh McGinley (Amity Harbor, N.Y.) each had five kills for the Crusaders. Surface also added eight digs, while senior co-captain Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) chipped in with eight digs. Sophomore setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded 13 assists and six digs.

The Pioneers were led by Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek's 37 assists and Maile Herthington's 18 kills.
