Holy Cross drops two at UConn Tournament

Storrs, Conn. - The Crusaders were defeated twice on day one of the Connecticut Invitational to host Connecticut (18-30, 19-30, 21-30) and Stony Brook (18-30, 17-30, 19-30) on Friday.

Overall, senior Laura Liesman (Winchester, Calif.) led Holy Cross by accumulating 24 digs from both games, 11 against the Huskies and 24 versus the Seawolves.

Senior Michelle Leahy (Andover, Mass.) set a total of 39 kills for the Crusaders, 16 against UConn and 23 versus Stony Brook.

Sophomore Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst , N.Y.) tallied a team high of 14 digs against the Huskies, while sophomore Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) added 10 digs in the same contest.

The Crusaders, who are now 1-5 overall, will play again on Saturday in the final day of the Connecticut Invitational against Long Island University at Noon .
