WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) earned her first double-double of the season with 24 kills and 14 digs but it was not enough as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Providence, 3-1, by scores of 30-27, 22-30, 30-27 and 30-24, at the Hartford Invitational. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-2 overall, while the Friars improve to 1-1 overall.

Senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) had a strong match as she recorded her first double-double of the season with 39 assists and 13 digs, while sophomore Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) also registered her first double-double of the year with 10 kills and 16 digs. Senior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) led the team in digs with 19.

Aida Cadres had 11 kills and 16 digs for the Friars, while Sara Sheehan recorded 42 assists. Also having a strong match was Jeanette Toney who had 11 kills, while Kelly Krahenbuhl had 19 digs.

The Crusaders conclude the Hartford Invitational on Saturday night when they face tournament host Hartford at 7:00 p.m.
