Volleyball Falls To Lafayette

Worcester, Mass. - Sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) recorded her 11th double-double of the season and junior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) earned her first, but it was not enough as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Lafayette, 3-0, by scores of 30-23, 30-25, and 30-23, in Patriot League action, on Saturday afternoon at Holy Cross Field House. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 6-15 overall (2-7 PL), while the Leopards improve to 13-11 overall (3-6 PL).
Strawson had 14 kills giving her 296 on the season moving her to fifth on the Holy Cross single-season kills list. The record is 396 by Caitlin Agostinacchio in 2004. Strawson also recorded 18 digs, while Mora had 10 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) had 41 assists. Holy Cross had four players with double digits in digs, including 12 each by sophomore libero Katie Fitzpatrick (Queensbury, N.Y.) and freshman Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.).
Lafayette were led by Veronica Canto-Ponce and Catherine Herchenroder who each had 13 kills, while Megan Carter dished out 41 assists and had 18 digs.
The Crusaders return to the court when they host Patriot League foe Bucknell at the Hart Center on Friday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m.
