Crusaders crush Radford for first win of the season

Worcester, Mass. - In the final match of the 2004 Crusader Classic, Holy Cross dominated over Radford in three straight games (30-26, 30-26, 30-14) for their first victory of the season Saturday night at the Hart Center, after being defeated earlier in the day by Siena College (21-30, 23-30, 30-26, 26-30).

Sophomore Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) and senior Lauren Liesman (Winchester, Calif.) each registered a team high 12 digs for Holy Cross. Mora also tallied a team high of 12 kills.

Setter Michelle Leahy ( Andover , Mass. ) tallied a game high 36 assists and added two aces and five digs.

The Highlanders were lead by Kate McHugh with seven kills and Elizabeth Aldredge with nine digs.

In Holy Cross' loss to Siena , senior Caitlin Agostinacchio ( Bellmore , N.Y. ) recorded a game high of 15 kills, while three Crusaders registered double-digits in digs, including Leahy (10), Mora (10) and Liesman (13). Leahy also tallied 39 assists, and one ace.

Siena setter Abbie Maciolek totaled a game high of 43 assists, as Christie Gustafson tallied a team high of 13 kills. Jessica Hackett registered a game high of 15 digs.

The Crusaders, who are now 1-2 overall, will travel to Rhode Island to take on Providence College on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
