Volleyball Defeated By Colgate, 3-0
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Michelle McCarthy led the Raiders with nine kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Colgate, 3-0, in Patriot League action at Cotterell Court on Saturday evening by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-14. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-26 overall (1-11 PL), while the Raiders improve to 14-12 overall (11-1 PL).
Senior captain Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders with nine kills as she now has 1,459 career kills. Lynch, who already holds the school record is now ninth on the all-time Patriot League career kills list. Senior captain Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) led the team with 11 digs as she now has 1,283 for her career. The school record is 1,290.
Kaylee Fifer posted 30 assists for the Raiders, while Caitlin Cremin tallied 18 digs. Cremin also led the team with four aces.
The Raiders took the first set, 25-13, as Kenzie Hume led the team with five kills. Colgate won the second set by a 25-17 as the team posted a .433 hitting percentage. The Raiders clinched the sweep with a 25-14 third-set win as McCarthy tallied six kills.
The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to play Lehigh on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders will then conclude the season by traveling to Easton, Pa., to take on Lafayette on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2:00 p.m.
