WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior libero Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) notched the 22 digs needed for her 1,000th career dig as the Holy Cross volleyball team downed Bryant, 3-2, in a thrilling match on Wednesday evening at the Holy Cross Field House by scores of 25-22, 24-26, 19-25, 25-23 and 20-18 in non-conference action. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 9-13 overall and have won four of their last six matches and are also now 6-3 at home this season, while the Bulldogs dip to 13-9 overall. The Crusaders had previously lost to Bryant this season at the Bryant Invitational by a 3-1 score. The nine total wins to date are the most for the program since going 11-14 in 2001.

Chisholm is only the fifth Crusader to reach 1,000 career digs. Senior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) doled out 48 assists, 10 digs and six kills registering her eighth double-double of the year and 27th of her career. Sophomore Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) narrowly missed a 20-20 match as she amassed 19 kills and 17 digs for the Crusaders as she posted her 14th double-double of the season and 21st of her career, while senior Rebecca DeSanti (Hampden, Mass.) recorded a career-best 15 digs, to go with seven kills. Sophomore Callie Black (Fallon, Nev.) notched a career-best 11 kills and a career-best five blocks. Junior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) registered 11 kills, while sophomore Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) recorded 17 digs.

Lynch now has 292 kills this year which are ninth all-time for a single season at Holy Cross. O'Donnell now has 107 career aces and is tied for fifth all-time, and her 798 career digs are 10th in the Crusader record book.

Bryant was led by Kendall Gaffney who amassed 20 kills and 11 digs, while sophomore Jadith Lorenzo made 49 assists to go along with 18 digs. Freshmen Alexandria Clyburn, Kaitlin Klein and Nicole Percz each notched 10 kills on the night. A trio of Bulldogs had double-digit digs as senior Robyn Gardner had a team best 22 digs, freshman Leigh Fishback had 14 and sophomore Macy Mitravich contributed 11 in the effort.

With the first set tied 10-10, Holy Cross won five straight points to move out to a 15-10 lead. Holy Cross would go on to win the set, 25-22, as Lynch led the team with five kills. After dropping the second and third set, the Crusaders answered back with a 25-23 win to force a fifth set. With the fifth set tied at 13-13, Klein notched a kill to give the Bulldogs a match point.  The Crusaders then fought off four match points as Lynch had two kills and freshman Alex Aycock (Jonesboro, Ark.) had one of her own. After a kill by Black, Holy Cross had their own match point at 18-17, but Klein tied the match with a kill. With the Crusaders now up 19-18, O'Donnell setup freshman Christiana Blakeslee (Ashtabula, Ohio) to record the final kill in the match. This was Holy Cross' third five-set victory of the season.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Oct. 9, when they will travel to West Point, N.Y., to play Patriot League opponent Army at Gillis Field House at 4:00 p.m.
