Worcester, Mass. - Reigning Patriot League Player of the Week Patricia Sutton and reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week Amy Archambault both scored three goals to lead Holy Cross to a 13-8 win over Albany in a non-conference match-up on Monday afternoon at the Hart Astroturf. Holy Cross has now won four of its last five games and is 4-4 on the season, while the Great Danes fall to 1-7 overall.

Freshman Nikki Bolduc (Exeter, N.H.) opened the scoring just 3:49 into the contest thanks to a nice feed from sophomore Jacque Hastings (Sewickley, Pa.) to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Sutton scored her first of three goals on an unassisted effort for a 2-0 HC edge.

The Great Danes kept things close at the start, cutting the lead to just one (2-1) after a Kate Fontana tally at the 8:04 mark. The Crusaders then tacked on four straight goals to take a 6-1 lead with less than 10 minutes to play in the first.

Albany would not back down, however, and scored three straight goals of its own to pull within two (6-4) with less than two minutes before halftime, but an Eileen Hartigan (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) score with six seconds left on the clock put the Crusaders up 7-4 at the break.

Sutton scored her second goal of the game just 25 seconds into the second stanza to give HC an 8-4 cushion until two more Albany goals had the Great Danes right back in things (8-6) with 20 minutes to play. But the Crusaders then piled on four more goals, including the eventual game-winner by Archambault, to put Holy Cross up 12-6 with 12 minutes to play.

Kim Reny and Kate Fontana got on the board again for Albany, but it was too little, too late as Holy Cross took a 13-8 decision.

Sophomore goalie Megan Orr made 12 saves in the cage for HC, while Jen Daly came up with 10 stops for Albany in the losing effort.

The Crusaders, who are 1-1 in conference play, host Lehigh in a crucial league match-up on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m.
