• The Lead: Select runners from Holy Cross competed in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the men finished in 14th place and the women finished 18th in their respective varsity races.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Senior Joe Murphy (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) was the top runner for the Crusaders, coming in at 69th overall with a time of 26:58.
• Other top competitors for the men included Sophomore Alec Hilton (Fairfield, Conn.), who finished 79th with a time of 27:09 and freshman Connor Hennessey (North Providence, R.I.), who finished 91st with a time of 27:22.
• Sophomore Erin Ahearn (Ringwood, N.J.) was the top runner for the women, finishing 63rd with a time of 19:56.
• Top runners for the women included sophomore Claire Turner (Norwalk, Conn.), who finished 76th with a time of 20:05 and sophomore Kate Spitler (Marshfield, Mass.), who came in at 100 with a time of 20:25.
• Ignatio Hernando of Southern New Hampshire finished first overall in the men's race.
• Allison Decker finished first overall for East Stroudsburg in the women's race, she also finished first at last year's UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
• Brandeis claimed the top team prize for both the men's and women's varsity races.

BEYOND THE RESULTS:

• The men's race featured 324 runners from 43 schools, while the women's race included 315 competitors from 42 schools.
