Volleyball Falls To American In Straight Sets

  • The Lead: The Crusaders fell to American in straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-14, on Saturday afternoon at the Bender Arena in Washington, D.C.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Mandy Sifferlen (Sudbury, Mass.) and freshman Lynsey Petersen (Palos Verdes, Calif.) both led the Crusaders with six kills. Freshman Caroline Wells (Greensboro, N.C.) led the Crusaders with 15 assists, while sophomore M.C. Magner (Northfield, Ill.) led with nine digs.
  • Kristyna Lindovska led American with eight kills, while Monika Smidova led with 23 assists and Allison Cappellino led with 11 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Eagles jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first set and never looked back, taking the set by a score of 25-9.
  • American scored seven straight points to take command of the second set, and frustrated Holy Cross with another 25-9 victory to make it 2-0 in the match.
  • The Crusaders maintained a close set to start the third, but American proved to be too much to handle and won the final set by a score of 25-14.

UP NEXT

  • The Crusaders will return to action Sunday October 4, 2015 as they travel to Loyola (Md.) for a Patriot League match with the Greyhounds beginning at 2:00 p.m.
