Volleyball Falls To Army West Point, 3-1

  • The Lead: Junior Mandy Sifferlen (Sudbury, Mass.) registered 17 kills but the Crusaders fell to Army West Point, 3-1, by scores of 25-18, 25-13, 24-26 and 25-20 on Tuesday night at the Hart Center.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Sifferlen notched a team-leading 17 kills, while freshman Lynsey Petersen (Palos Verdes, Calif.) registered 11.
  • Freshman Caroline Wells (Greensboro, N.C.) led the Crusaders with 28 assists.
  • Sophomore M.C. Magner (Northfield, Ill.) notched a team-leading 15 digs.
  • Nicole Perri had a double-double for the Black Knights with a team-leading 18 kills and 14 digs, while Vanessa Edwards had a double-double with a team-leading 55 assists 12 digs. Amber Clay also notched a double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs. Ellie Peterson led Army West Point with 16 digs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Sifferlen now has 316 kills this season, which is tied for eighth all-time in school history. This is the 19th time she has posted double-digit kills out of 22 matches this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • With the first set tied at 17, the Black Knights put together an 8-1 scoring run to take the first set of the match.
  • Army notched eight straight points in the second set to give them a commanding lead that the Crusaders could not overcome. The Black Knights took the set 25-13.
  • Sifferlen registered eight kills as the Crusaders edged Army in a back-and-forth third set, 26-24.
  • Army West Point powered their way to a commanding lead in the fourth set that was too much for Holy Cross. They clinched the match with a 25-20 win.
