Softball Falls To Creighton And Drexel At Rebel Spring Games

The Lead: Holy Cross suffered a 2-0 loss to Creighton on its third day of competition at the Rebel Spring Games on Wednesday afternoon.


  • Creighton would notch the only two runs of the game in the top of the first inning, with a double RBI from Allie Reinhart and a single RBI from Blake Ringle.
  • After allowing three hits in the opening inning, the Crusaders’ defense held the Bluejays to just two hits in the following six innings.
  • Sydnee Eck tossed 13 strikeouts as the Bluejays defense held Holy Cross to just one hit in the game.


  • The Jackrabbits outhit Holy Cross 5-1.
  • The Crusaders left two runners on base, while Creighton left 6.
  • Eck got the win for the Bluejays after pitching a full seven innings while allowing no runs with one hit and dealing 13 strikeouts.
  • Senior Gennifer Durham (Abbeville, S.C.) pitched a complete seven innings for Holy Cross, while allowing two runs on five hits and tossing six strikeouts.
  • Sophomore Taylor Moss (Howard Beach, N.Y.) led the Crusaders’ offense, going 1-for-3 in the game with a single.

The Lead: Freshman Taylor Wahler (Inman, S.C.) went 3-for-4 and scored two runs as the Crusaders fell to Drexel, 8-3, in their second game of the day at the Rebel Spring Games.


  • Drexel jumped out to a strong lead in the bottom of the first inning, as the Dragons notched six runs on five hits.
  • Holy Cross earned its first run of the game in the top of the third. Wahler singled to third base and stole second to reach scoring position, as Moss brought her home with single to center field.
  • Drexel added another run in the bottom of the third to make it 7-1 off an RBI double.
  • Wahler scored another run for the Crusaders in the fifth inning, as she singled to right field and reached home plate off an RBI double from Moss to left field.
  • The Crusaders notched another run in the top of the sixth. Senior Hailey Mullen (Plainville, Mass.) reached base on a bunt single, and advanced to second as freshman Alexandra Held (Houston, Texas) was hit by a pitch. Mullen would steal third base before reaching home plate on a wild pitch.
  • The Dragons added one more run in the sixth inning to make it 8-3.


  • Drexel outhit the Crusaders 13-6.
  • Holy Cross left eight runners on base, while the Dragons left six runners on base.
  • T.L. Lee earned the win for Drexel, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing three runs on six hits and dealing six strikeouts.
  • Sophomore Katy Watson (Bexley, Ohio) pitched the first 2.1 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits. Freshman Olivia Sloane (Newton, Mass.) pitched 3.2 innings in relief while allowing one run on five hits.
  • Wahler led the Crusaders’ offense, going 3-for-4 in the game. Moss also had a strong game, going 2-for-4 at the plate.


  • The Crusaders will return to action tomorrow at the Rebel Spring Games, as they take on Drexel (9:00 a.m.) and South Dakota State (11:15 a.m.)
