HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Crusaders led the first set, 9-5, as Sifferlen hammered three kills during that span before Army West Point won 11 of the following 15 points to take a three-point lead with the score, 16-13. Holy Cross kept the set tight, trimming the deficit to one point, making the score 23-22, but after a timeout, the Black Knights won the last two points to take set one, 25-22.
  • Trailing 13-8 in the second set, Holy Cross took four straight points with Petersen smashing three consecutive kills to close the gap to one point with the score, 13-12. The Crusaders tied the set at 16-16, but the Black Knights responded by winning nine of the final 13 points for the 25-20 second set win.
  • Army West Point jumped out to a 12-6 lead to start off the third set, and held the six-point lead up until the score was 16-10. Holy Cross battled back but couldn’t cut the margin, as the Black Knights won nine of the next 16 points to claim the 25-17 third set victory and capture the 3-0 match win.

ON THE RADAR FOR ALL-TIME CAREER RECORDS:

  • Popp currently ranks fourth all-time in program history with 1,256 career digs. She needs 29 more digs to be third all-time and 56 digs to set a new school record.
