  • The Lead: Freshman forward Lauren Manis registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, as Holy Cross came up short to Navy, 57-56, on Monday afternoon in Annapolis, Md.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Junior guard Tricia Byrne led the Crusaders with 13 points and four assists. She was 3-for-5 from three-point range.
  • Manis led Holy Cross with 11 rebounds and three blocks while posting 11 points.
  • Sarita Condie led Navy with 15 points and registered seven rebounds.
  • Justice Swett notched 12 points and led the Midshipmen with five steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams battled back-and-forth in the first quarter, with the lead changing five times before Navy took a 15-14 lead into the second quarter.
  • After the Crusaders tied the game at 17 early in the second, the Midshipmen scored the next 14 points to take control of the game.
  • Navy outscored Holy Cross 18-8 in the second quarter to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • The Midshipmen led by 15 points with 6:14 remaining in the third quarter, but the Crusaders posted a 14-0 run to cut the deficit to just one point late in the quarter.
  • After the Crusaders outscored Navy 23-16 in the third, the Midshipmen led 49-45 heading into the fourth.
  • Holy Cross gained the lead for the first time in the second half with 4:34 remaining, but Navy would post the next five points to regain the lead with just over a minute remaining.
  • The Crusaders cut the deficit to one point and inbounded the ball with 11 seconds remaining, but they were unable to find a go-ahead basket.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Manis has now score in double figures 10 times this season, and has led the Crusaders in rebounding seven times.
  • She has now earned five double-doubles on the year.
  • Byrne registered a new season-high with 13 points, and led Holy Cross in assists for the 10th time in her career.
