The Lead: The Holy Cross women’s track and field team captured seven first place finishes in a dual meet versus New Hampshire, but fell to the Wildcats, 218-209, on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Junior Hannah Jeter placed first in the 3,000-meter run with a New England qualifying time of 10:13.58. Right behind Jeter in second place was senior Caroline Carr with a time of 10:14.64. She also made the standards for qualifying for the New England Championship. Carr’s time was a personal record.
  • Senior co-captain Rachel Sowinski also reached a New England qualifying time of 5:05.13 in the one mile, taking first place.
  • Sophomore Alexandra Curtin took second in the 55-meter dash and notched a time of 7.32 in the preliminaries, qualifying her for the New England Championship.
  • Holy Cross also captured the first and second place spots in the triple jump with senior co-captain Alexa Eldracher (11.42 meters) and junior Alanna Hitscherich (11.17 meters) leading the way, respectively. Both their marks serve as New England qualifying standards.
  • Four Crusaders qualified for the New England Championship in the 55-meer hurdles, including Hitscherich, who took first place (8.50), sophomore Isabella DiMare (8.52) freshman Morgan Sanders (8.58) and junior Tori Zamarra (8.60).
  • DiMare placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.36.
  • Junior Claire Turner just missed the New England qualifying mark in the 800-meter with a time of 2:19.53 for second place.
  • In the 1,000-meter run, junior Kate Spitler came close to notching a New England qualifier time with a third place finish (3:03.93).
  • Senior Cassandra Kobelski finished first in the shot put with a distance of 11.67 meters.
