Men's Track And Field Defeated By New Hampshire

The Lead:  Sophomore Brandon Thornhill and senior Andre Harton each captured first place finishes for the Crusaders, but the Holy Cross men’s track and field team fell to New Hampshire, 226-185 on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Thornhill notched first place in the 55-meter hurdles out of six runners with a time of 7.93.
  • Harton recorded a first place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.90 meters. Junior Josh Nickerson landed just behind Harton in second place with a height of 1.85 meters.
  • Harton just missed the New England qualifying standards in the 55-meter dash with his time of 6.77 for a third-place finish and in the 200-meter dash, where he finished second with a time of 24.15. 
  • Sophomore Joseph Prunty was the first Crusader to finish the one-mile run with a time of 4:33.17, as junior Bryan Gallagher registered a personal record time of 4:34.68.
  • Senior co-captain Michael Araujo placed second overall in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.25 meters.
  • In the long jump, sophomore Alexander Escada and Nickerson each leaped for a second place finish out of seven with distances of 5.97 meters.
  • With a time of 1:09.29, junior Thomas Kalantzakos ran for third place in the 500-meter run. 
  • The Crusaders were just behind the Wildcats in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:31.83. Holy Cross was edged, as New Hampshire captured first place with a 3:31.02 mark.

  • Holy Cross returns to action at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston on Friday, Jan. 27 at 12:00 p.m.
