Women's Track And Field Takes On The David Hemery Valentine Invitational

The Lead: Junior Zoe Matherne notched a personal record and ECAC qualifying time of 2:12.05 in the 800-meter run at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday. Six other Crusaders met a New England qualifying mark at the meet. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Freshman Allie Smiley reached her personal record and the team’s season-best time of 7.85 in the 60-meter dash, meeting the New England qualifying standards for a 13th-place overall finish out of 95 runners in that event.
  • Sophomores Sarah Friess (25.31) and Isabella DiMare (25.39) each hit New England qualifying times in the 200-meter dash, taking the 24th and 26th spots, respectively out of 212 runners in the race.
  • Junior Meghan Dietter reached the New England qualifying standards in the 500-meter run with her time of 1:17.60. She took 11th-place overall in the race out of 53 runners.
  • Matherne’s ECAC qualifying time of 2:12.05 earned her an 18th-place finish overall in the race out of 143 runners.
  • Senior co-captain Rachel Sowinski hit a New England Qualifying time in the 800-meter run with her mark of 2:15.69.
  • Freshman Morgan Sanders registered a time of 9.21 in the 60-meter hurdles. Her time qualified her for the New England Indoor Championship, as she finished 25th overall in that event.
  • Senior co-captain Jennifer Kimball leaped for a tied ninth place in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.60 meters.
  • Sophomore Alexandra Curtin reached a distance of 5.46 meters in the long jump, just meeting the New England Indoor Championship standards and placing 11th out of 33. Just behind Curtin in 14th was Smiley who hit a distance of 5.42 meters.
  • Senior Cassandra Kobelski just missed her personal record in the shot put by 0.01 meters with a 12.01-meter toss.
  • Senior Alliyah Veilleux set a big personal record in the weight throw with a mark of 14.11 meters.
