Men’s Track And Field Competes At The David Hemery Valentine Invitational

The Lead: Junior Thomas Kalantzakos reached a personal record and New England qualifying time of 1:55.46 in the 800-meter run for the Holy Cross men’s track and field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday. Three other Crusaders hit a personal record time at the meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Kalantzakos additionally ran a strong leg in the 4x400-meter relay with a 50.2 mark. His time in the 800-meter serves as the team’s season-best mark in that event.
  • Sophomore Brandon Thornhill finished 37th out of 85 in the 60-meter hurdles, registering a time of 8.58.
  • In the 3,000-meter run, freshman Alex Campagna hit a personal record time of 8:53.12, cruising past his former top 3,000-meter performance by 14 seconds.
  • Junior Nicholas Boire posted a strong performance in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.29, just missing the New England qualifying standards by 0.29 seconds. His mark stands as a season-best time for the Crusaders.
  • Sophomore Joseph Prunty led Holy Cross in the one-mile run with a time of 4:20.32. Both senior John Bentivegna (4:21.77) and junior Bryan Gallagher (4:23.95) hit personal records in the one mile.

  • Holy Cross returns to action in Boston for the Patriot League Championship hosted by Boston University from Feb. 17-19.
