HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Junior Alanna Hitscherich landed in sixth place in the triple jump, hitting a personal-record distance of 11.62 meters. Her mark is a team-best distance for the Crusaders. Hitscherich later landed a mark of 8.91 in the 60-meter hurdles and finished seventh.

BEYOND THE RESULTS:

TURNPIKE TROPHY:

  • The track and field Patriot League Indoor Championship served as part of the second annual Turnpike Trophy competition where Holy Cross and Boston University square off throughout the year. Boston University now holds a 10-1 lead.
  • This athletic series between the in-state Patriot League rivals awards points for all head-to-head victories in both the regular season and postseason, with the Turnpike Trophy going to the school which accumulates the most points at the end of the academic year.
  • The Turnpike Trophy series continues on Feb. 25, when the men’s and women’s basketball teams face one another. Both tip-offs are set for 2:00 p.m. with the women competing in Boston and the men taking the court in Worcester.
