  • The Lead: Holy Cross fell to Boston University by a score of 68-56 on Saturday afternoon at the Case Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Junior guard Tricia Byrne led the Crusaders with 16 points while adding five steals and two assists.
  • Freshman forward Lauren Manis and freshman guard Madalyn Smith also scored in double figures for Holy Cross with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
  • Sophie Beaudry led the Terriers with 21 points, along with five blocks and four rebounds.
  • Sarah Hope also had a strong game for Boston University, adding 15 points while shooting 4-for-9 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Terriers got off to a strong start, notching the first eight points of the game.
  • Boston University outscored the Crusaders 18-11 through the first quarter of play.
  • The Terriers maintained their lead throughout the third quarter, posting 18 points as they took a 36-26 advantage into halftime.
  • Holy Cross responded with an 8-2 run to start the second half, and outscored Boston University 17-13 in the third quarter.
  • The Crusaders got within six points in the fourth quarter, but could not come any closer as the Terriers posted 19 points in the final frame.

THE TURNPIKE TROPHY

  • Boston University now leads Holy Cross in the Turnpike Trophy standings 12-1.
  • Beaudry was named the Turnpike Trophy MVP after leading the Terriers with 21 points and registering five blocks.
  • The next game in the series will take place on March 2, as Women’s Tennis takes on the Terriers in Boston.
