HOW IT HAPPENED:
Holy Cross got off to a strong start offensively, notching four runs on six hits in the bottom of the first inning. After senior Bill Schlichled off the inning with double to right field, freshman Austin Maseland senior Anthony Critellidrove in runs on back-to-back at-bats. Juniors Cam O'Neilland Dan Vucovichboth registered RBIs to put Holy Cross up 4-0.
Schlich added to the Crusaders’ lead in the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot home run over the left field fence.
After the Crusaders held Dartmouth scoreless for eight innings, the Big Green got on the board in the ninth with a two-run homer.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Holy Cross outhit the Big Green 10-5.
The Crusaders left seven runners on base, while Dartmouth left four.
Sophomore Declan Croninearned the win for Holy Cross, allowing no runs in two innings of relief.
Sam Fichthorn took the loss for Dartmouth, allowing four runs on six hits.
Schlich led the Crusaders’ offense, hitting 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Schlich has notched at least one hit in his last eight games. His home run in the fourth inning was his first of the season, and the sixth of his career.
Holy Cross is set to return to action this weekend, as they host Patriot League foe Lehigh for four games, beginning with a double header on Saturday, April 8 at 2:05 p.m.
