Crusaders Compete Versus Georgetown & Marist

The Lead: The Holy Cross men's rowing team competed versus Georgetown and Marist on Lake Carnegie on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Georgetown’s No. 17 nationally ranked varsity eight won the Healy Cup with a time of 5:47.98, as the Crusaders (5:50.0) were second and Marist (5:57.72) was third. The Healy Cup was named in honor of Father Patrick Healy who graduated from Holy Cross (Class of 1850) and then went on to become the President of Georgetown. The cup was donated by the HC and Georgetown classes of 2010 and is given to the winner of the varsity eight race between the two schools.
  • The Crusaders’ second varsity eight (5:55.78) placed first, while the Red Foxes (5:59.61) were second and the Hoyas (6:00.32) were third.
  • The Hoyas' varsity four (6:54.19) finished first, while Marist (7:07.54) was second and the Crusaders (7:25.0) were third.

  • The Crusaders will return to action versus Trinity and Wesleyan on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday, April 23.
