Isabela Bagi To Receive Meegan Athletic Achievement Award
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Isabela Bagi, a member of the Holy Cross women's ice hockey and women's tennis teams, has been selected as the 2016-2017 winner of the John A. Meegan Athletic Achievement Award. Presented by the Holy Cross Varsity Club, the Meegan Award goes to a student-athlete, regardless of class, who competed in a sport other than football, baseball and basketball, and who attained outstanding achievement during his or her college career. This award is given by the club in memory of the late John A. Meegan (Class of 1939), loyal follower of all Crusader sports and esteemed treasurer of the Varsity Club from 1988 to 1996.
Bagi served as a team captain for both the women's ice hockey and women's tennis squads during her senior year. She earned All-Conference honors in ice hockey three times (2014, 2016 and 2017), in addition to being a two-time All-New England selection. Bagi was also chosen to the New England Hockey Conference All-Academic team and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
As a senior, Bagi ranked sixth on the ice hockey team in scoring with 14 points on four goals and 10 assists, despite missing half the season due to injury. She also led a defense which allowed 1.44 goals per game on the season, and finished her career with 80 points on 26 goals and 54 assists. In tennis, she posted career records of 18-30 in singles and 23-44 in doubles.
Bagi will be presented with the Meegan Award at the 62nd annual Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame Dinner & Ceremonial Banquet, to be held on Saturday, May 6, at 5:00 p.m. in the Hogan Campus Center.
