WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s soccer team took a narrow 1-0 loss to Maine on Thursday night at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders dominated possession in the first half, outshooting the Black Bears 7-1. Holy Cross managed four shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes, but Annalena Kriebisch stopped all four chances for Maine to keep it a scoreless contest.

The Black Bears put together a stronger second half, tallying three shots on goal. After sophomore Caroline Cashion made a pair of saves for Holy Cross, Maine broke the scoreless tie in the 84th minute with a quick shot inside the box. Freshman Sydney Fisher nearly tied the game for the Crusaders in the closing minutes with a long shot, but Kriebisch was able to keep it out and help secure the win for the Black Bears.
