Women's Cross Country Places Fourth and Sixth In Meets This Weekend
The women's cross country team placed fourth and sixth in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational and National Catholic Championships this past weekend.
The National Catholic Championships took place Friday, Sept. 15 in Notre Dame, Ind. The Crusaders competed in the 5k race and finished sixth overall. Notre Dame finished first overall (34 points) followed by Dayton (43 points), Marquette (80 points), Saint Louis (102 points), Duquesne (130 points), Holy Cross (138), Canisius (188), DePaul (222), Detroit Mercy (262), St. Bonaventure (272) and Mount St. Mary's (312).
Freshman Elizabeth Graves finished at the top for the Crusaders 22nd overall with a time of 18:28.1. Senior Hannah Jeter placed 24th overall with a time of 18:33.5, and senior Elizabeth Lombardo finished 29th overall with a time of 18:46.1.
The UMass Dartmouth Invitational 5K took place Saturday, Sept. 16 in North Dartmouth, Mass. The Crusaders finished fourth overall while Assumption took first (56 points), Trinity placed second (87 points) and Brandeis finished third (99 points) out of 40 teams.
Senior Kate Spitler finished 16th overall for the Crusaders with a time of 19:07. Freshman Alyson Walsh recorded a 19:11 finished for Holy Cross in 19th place.
The Crusaders will race in the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. Friday, Sept. 29.
