Jeter Cruises to a Fifth Place Finish in Patriot League Championship
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Holy Cross women's cross country team finished fifth out of 10 teams in the Patriot League Championship Oct. 28. Senior Hannah Jeter finished in fifth place overall leading the Crusaders with a time of 21:24.76. With the fifth place finish, Jeter earned a spot on the First Team All-Patriot League and a new personal-best finish at the Patriot League Championships. This is the third year Jeter has earned the first team honor as a Crusader and fourth year in a row she has finished in the top ten.
Senior Zoe Matherne finished 12th overall just behind Jeter with a time of 21:42.29. Sophomore Jenna Gasparrini finished 14th overall with a time of 21:54.46. Both Matherne and Gasparrini qualified for the Second Team All-Patriot League. Senior Elizabeth Lombardo had the third fastest time for the Crusaders and finished the 6K in 22:31.06.
For the team scores, Bucknell took first place with 58 points for their third straight Patriot League Championship. Army placed second (79 points), Navy finished third (88 points), Lehigh took fourth (105 points) and Holy Cross finished fifth (119 points). Boston University, Loyola (Md.), Lafayette and Colgate finished in the last four spots.
Holy Cross also receives a point in the Turnpike Trophy competition with Boston University. Jeter was named the Turnpike Trophy MVP for finishing before any BU runner.
