WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Lauren Manis led the Holy Cross women’s basketball team with 19 points as the Crusaders fell to Army West Point 66-57 on Wednesday night.

Manis led Holy Cross (10-15, 5-9) with 19 points and added five rebounds while shooting 11-for-15 from the free throw line. Senior Infiniti Thomas-Waheed finished the game with eight points and seven rebounds with three steals. Janae McNeal led the Black Knights with 25 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 10-for-17 from the field. Madison Hovren also earned a double-double for Army, posting 16 points with 12 boards. 

The Black Knights shot 42.3% (22-52) from the field, while the Crusaders posted 34.7% (17-49). From three-point range, Army shot 42.9% (3-7) while Holy Cross hit 30.0% (3-10) of their chances. The Black Knights were 63.3% (19-30) from the free throw line, while the Crusaders shot 69.0% (20-29) from the charity stripe.


  • Following the game, Manis was selected as the Woman of the Match presented the United States Marines.
  • She posted 19 points with five rebounds while shooting 11-for-15 from the free throw line.


  • Army West Point tallied the first nine points of the game, and managed to hold onto its lead throughout the first quarter to outscore the Crusaders 19-13.
  • Holy Cross managed to get within two points late in the second quarter, but the Black Knights held on to their advantage and took a 31-27 lead into halftime.
  • The Crusaders battled early in the third quarter, coming within two points, but Army posted a 9-3 run to keep control of its lead and took a 47-41 advantage into the final frame.
  • The Black Knights finished the fourth quarter strong, leading by no fewer than seven in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.


  • Army held the edge in rebounding, 47-26, which is the largest deficit the Crusaders have faced this season.
  • The Black Knights outscored Holy Cross in the pain, 34-26.
  • Army recorded 23 turnovers while the Crusaders committed 16.


  • Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Crusaders travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to take on Bucknell at 2:00 p.m.
