Men's Hockey To Honor 2006 NCAA Quarterfinal Team On Dec. 4-5

The Holy Cross men’s hockey program, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary season this year, is holding its Alumni Weekend on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5. As part of the festivities the program will be honoring the 10th anniversary of the 2005-2006 team which won the Atlantic Hockey championship and defeated Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 24, 2006. The team will be honored before the Crusaders’ contest versus Mercyhurst on Saturday. The annual Alumni Game will be played on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Complete Schedule Of Events For Alumni Weekend:

Friday, Dec. 4
6 p.m. - Bud Ryan Room (second floor of the Hart Center) open to all alumni and their families. 
The Bud Ryan Room is open one hour prior to the start of the game and from the start of the first intermission to the end of second intermission. A cash bar and bar snacks are available.
7:05 p.m. - Holy Cross vs. Mercyhurst

Saturday, Dec. 5
1-3 p.m.  - Alumni Game at Hart Center
4-6 p.m. - The Pub in Hogan Center will be open for all alumni and their families
6 p.m.  - Bud Ryan Room (second floor of the Hart Center) open to all alumni and their families. 
The Bud Ryan Room is open one hour prior to the start of the game and from the start of the first intermission to the end of second intermission. A cash bar and food options will be available.
7:05 p.m. – Holy Cross vs. Mercyhurst
During a Pre-Game Ceremony, we will introduce and honor the 2005-06 Atlantic Hockey Championship and NCAA Tournament Team. All Alumni in attendance are invited onto the ice for the celebration.

The 2005-2006 Holy Cross men’s hockey team made history by defeating No. 1 seed Minnesota, 4-3 in overtime in the 2006 NCAA West Regional Semifinals earning a spot in the national quarterfinals and a program-best national ranking of No. 14. The Crusaders were the first No. 4 seed to ever defeat a No. 1 seed in NCAA action after the tournament expanded to 16 teams. That year, Tyler McGregor was the first ever Crusader to earn Division I All-American accolades.
