SETTING THE STAGE      

• The Holy Cross women’s basketball team continues its Patriot League slate on Wednesday night, as the Crusaders travel to Easton, Pa. to take on Lafayette at 7:00 p.m.

• Wednesday’s game can be viewed via live stream on the Patriot League Network (PatriotLeague.tv).

• This will be the 64th all-time meeting between the Leopards and Holy Cross, with the Crusaders holding the series edge at 55-8.

• Holy Cross has won the previous 13 games against Lafayette, dating back to the 2009-2010 season.

• In games played in Easton, Holy Cross holds the series edge at 23-4.

• In the last meeting, the Crusaders earned a 57-54 victory at Lafayette on Feb. 10, 2016.

• Holy Cross won the first-ever meeting between the two programs on Dec. 6, 1986 in Kingston, R.I. by a score of 73-67.

LAST TIME OUT

• Freshman forward Lauren Manis led the Crusaders with 14 points, shooting 6-for-9 from the field.

• Senior forward Madelyn Ganser led Holy Cross with eight rebounds.

• The Crusaders started out strong, jumping out to a 6-2 lead early on in the first quarter.

• Bucknell then went on a 13-5 scoring run to pull ahead 15-11 at the end of the first.

• Holy Cross responded with a scoring surge in the second, regaining the lead with a jumper from junior guard Tricia Byrne with 4:52 remaining in the half to go up 21-19.

• The Bison then put together a 13-2 run to end the first half, taking a 32-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

• Bucknell extended its lead through the third quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 23-9 to lead 55-32 heading into the fourth.

• Holy Cross was able to cut the deficit early on in the final quarter, but were outscored 22-16 to secure the final score.

OPENING TIPS  

• Holy Cross was picked to finish fourth in the 2016-2017 Patriot League preseason poll, as voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

• The Crusaders finished fifth last year in the Patriot League with a 10-8 record, while they posted a 13-17 overall mark.

• Junior guard Infiniti Thomas-Waheed, who was selected to the Patriot League All-Defensive Team in 2015-2016, notched a new career-high 23 points against Bryant, and a new career-high with seven assists at UMass.

• She has scored in double figures in 10 games so far this season, while leading the Crusaders in scoring nine times.

• Freshman forward Lauren Manis has led Holy Cross in rebounding eight times this season, and ranks third in the Patriot League with 8.1 rebounds per game.

• Manis has earned double-digit rebounds five times, and has tallied five double-doubles on the year.

• Manis notched her fifth double-double of the season at Navy with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

• Junior guard Tricia Byrne notched a new career-high with 13 points at Navy, and led Holy Cross in assists for the 10th time in her career.

• Holy Cross ranks first in the Patriot League in blocks per game with 4.2.

SCOUTING REPORT ON LAFAYETTE

• Lafayette is coming off a 68-50 loss to Boston University this past Sunday in Boston.

• The Leopards enter Wednesday night’s game with a 1-15 overall record and an 0-4 mark in Patriot League play.

• Prior to the loss at Boston U., Lafayette took defending league champion Army West Point to triple overtime before falling 76-73.

• Anna Ptasinki leads Lafayette in scoring so far this season, averaging 7.9 points per game.

• Olivia Gumbs leads the Leopards in rebounding, averaging 5.9 boards per game.

• Head coach Theresa Grentz is currently in her second season with Lafayette.

• The Leopards went 6-23 overall last season with a 4-14 record in the Patriot League. They were eliminated by Colgate in the first round of the conference playoffs by a score of 80-68.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 14, as the Crusaders take on Lehigh at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex at 1:05 p.m.
