Lauren Manis Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Year

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women’s basketball freshman forward Lauren Manis has been named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Year, as voted on by the conference’s head coaches.

In addition, Manis also earned second team All-Patriot League recognition, as well as a spot on the Patriot League’s All-Rookie team. She becomes the fourth player in program history to be named Patriot League Rookie of the Year, and the first since Bethany O’Dell received the honor in 2007.

Manis has been one of the Crusaders’ top scorers all season, ranking second on the team and seventh in the Patriot League with 13.2 points per game. She also leads Holy Cross with an average of 7.4 rebounds per game, which place her fourth overall in the Patriot League. She has scored in double digits 23 times this season, while posting 20 or more points on four occasions. Manis has also posted double-digit rebounds nine times on the season, and registered seven double doubles.

This season, Manis has led the Crusaders in scoring 10 times, while leading in rebounds 14 times and steals 10 times. She has posted career-highs of 25 points against Navy on Jan. 31, and 14 rebounds at American on Jan. 22.

The Crusaders will return to action tomorrow, March 4, as the Crusaders host Lafayette at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament at 1:05 p.m.
