Zoe Matherne Named C&R Tire Crusader Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Zoe Matherne has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from Feb. 27-March 5. This marks the second straight Crusader of the Week selection for Matherne, who previously earned the honor on Feb. 27.
At last weekend’s ECAC Championship, Matherne led the Holy Cross women’s indoor track and field team by placing second in the 800-meter run. She clocked a time of 2:09.47 in the preliminaries on Saturday, before running a time of 2:09.71 in the finals on Sunday. Matherne’s time of 2:09.47 in the preliminaries broke the all-time Holy Cross indoor school record in the event.
Over the course of the season, Matherne has the fastest times on the team in the 800-meter run (2:09.47), the 1,000-meter run (2:50.95) and the one-mile run (4:55.02).
The indoor season is now complete for the Crusaders. The outdoor season begins on April 1, when Holy Cross takes part in the Central Connecticut Invitational.
