Football Team Set To Start Spring Practice
WORCESTER, Mass. – The first day of spring is almost here, and the Holy Cross football team is ready to return to the field and continue its preparations for the 2017 season! The Crusaders will hold their first spring practice session of the year tonight as they forge a team looking to contend for the 2017 Patriot League championship.
“We are really looking forward to getting back out on the field to kick off the 2017 campaign,” said head coach Tom Gilmore. “This is the time of year where we want to focus on our fundamentals, in addition to developing the confidence we need to have success during the season. We expect everyone to make significant progress as we build a team that can win the Patriot League title.”
Holy Cross returns 12 starters off last year’s squad, along with a number of other talented student-athletes on both sides of the ball. The Crusaders will also welcome back four fifth-year seniors in 2017, with tailback Gabe Guild, offensive lineman James Murray, offensive lineman Nick Piker and quarterback Peter Pujals all returning for one final season.
Spring practice will conclude on Saturday, April 8, when the spring football game will take place at Kuzniewski Field at 11:00 a.m. Following the game, the team will hold its annual spring cookout at the Holy Cross Field House with the meal priced at $20.00 per person.
