Collett And Ferrill Named AHCA All-American Scholars
WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Mitch Collett and senior Ryan Ferrill of the Holy Cross men’s ice hockey team were honored by the American Hockey Coaches Association for their success on and off the ice. Both student-athletes were named AHCA All-American Scholars for the 2016-2017 season.
More than 1,000 student-athletes were honored as the inaugural group of All-American Scholars by the AHCA. In order to qualify for the award, a student-athlete with a Division I or III ice hockey team must have posted a grade point average of at least 3.6 the past year and participated in 40% of their team’s games.
Collett appeared in all 36 games for the Crusaders last season. He amassed 14 points on seven goals and seven assist, including 10 points (5g, 5a) in Atlantic Hockey play. In his career, Collett has appeared in 49 games, and totaled 16 points with eight goals and eight assists. He was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team as a freshman and a sophomore.
Ferrill also played in each of the Crusaders 36 games during their 2016-2017 campaign. In that time he posted 15 points on six goals and nine assists, including 13 points (5g, 8a) against Atlantic Hockey opponents. In 102 career games, he has amassed 45 points on 22 goals and 23 assists. Ferrill has been named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team for three-straight seasons.
