BOSTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross field hockey team took a 4-0 loss to Boston University on Friday afternoon in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament. The Terriers got off to a strong start, outshooting the Crusaders 15-1 in the first half. BU found the back of the net in the 15th minute with a bouncing shot from Kiley Gallagher on a penalty corner play. Grace Boston made it 2-0 in the 17th minute with a tip in front of the net. The Terriers continued their pressure and notched their third goal of the game in the 20th minute with a goal from Maika Akroyd before Boston scored her second of the game to make it 4-0 before halftime.

Despite BU adding 11 shots in the second half, the Crusader defense succeeded in limiting the Terriers’ chances and held them scoreless in the final 35 minutes. BU threatened early on the second half with a solid cross-pass for an open shot, but sophomore Marcia LaPlante made a diving save to hold off the scoring chance. The Crusaders created a solid scoring chance the other way late in the game. Junior Emily Loprete registered the shot on goal, but Kathleen Keegan came up with the save for BU to maintain the shutout.
