Holy Cross Plays Host To Loyola On Monday
The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns home on Monday, Jan. 8, when it plays host to Loyola (Md.) at 7:05 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Greyhounds can be seen online through the Patriot League Network, and will also air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 3-11 on the season with an 0-3 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have lost 11 of their last 12 games, and are coming off an 83-77 setback at Lehigh on Friday night.
Junior forward Jehyve Floyd has led the team by averaging 11.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game, while standing fourth in the nation with a .696 field goal percentage. Junior forward Karl Charles is also off to a strong start this year, with averages of 10.5 points, 2.8 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per contest. Freshman guard Caleb Green has added 9.6 points, 2.9 assists and 2.6 boards per game, while freshman guard Austin Butler is chipping in with 7.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest.
Loyola enters the game at 4-10 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds have won three of their last five games, including a 68-65 victory over Boston University on Friday.
Sophomore guard Chuck Champion has led the team by averaging 15.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, while hitting 37.5 percent of his three-point field goal attempts. Senior guard Andre Walker has added 14.2 points, 3.2 assists and 3.2 boards per contest, while senior forward Cam Gregory is chipping in with 12.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
After the contest with Loyola, the Crusaders will travel to Navy for a 7:00 p.m. game on Thursday, Jan. 11.
