Women's Rowing Winter Training Trip Blog: Day 5
TAMPA, Fla. - Carrie Malatesta reflects on the women's rowing team's fifth day in Tampa.
"We started out our last full day in Tampa with a bright and early row. Although the day started out chilly, it warmed up to the 60’s in the afternoon. We practiced long, steady state pieces in eight boats in the morning. The water was beautiful and flat, making for some great rowing!
After our morning row we made our way to breakfast at the University of Tampa dining hall and walked along the water back to our hotel. During our much needed break we broke into groups and lifted in the hotel weight room. The lift was organized and led by MB and everyone was definitely sore!
We left for afternoon practice at 3:00 p.m. and played around with GoPro’s in the boat, making for some really cool footage! Our afternoon pieces were very competitive and everyone showed improvement.
We ended the day with a big dinner at the dining hall and a little bit of dessert. After dinner we all met up to watch footage from the day. We got some awesome clips from the GoPro and were able to look back on our afternoon row. Overall, we improved a lot over the day and week! It was a great last full day."
