  • The Lead: The Holy Cross women’s tennis team took a 7-0 loss to Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon in New Haven, Conn. to open their spring season.

  • The Pioneers posted their first point after sweeping doubles play, winning the No. 1 match 8-2, the No. 2 match 8-3 and the No. 3 match 8-1.
  • At No. 1 singles, junior Allison Reiling lost a close battle by scores of 6-1 and 7-6, falling the tie-breaker 4-0.
  • Freshman Katya Martin fell at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-0, 6-0.
  • In the No. 3 singles match, senior Katie Elia took the loss at 6-2, 6-1.
  • Junior Morgan McGuire fell in the No. 4 singles match at 6-1, 6-1.
  • Junior Jennifer Kary was defeated in the No. 5 singles competition by scores of 6-2, 6-2.
  • At No. 6 singles, junior Caroline Kam took a loss with scores of 6-1, 6-1.
