WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Abbie Mokwuah has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from April 23-29. Mokwuah broke a school record while leading the Holy Cross women’s track and field team to a third place finish at the Skyhawk Invitational last weekend.

During Saturday’s competition at Stonehill, Mokwuah placed first in the shot put with a school-record distance of 14.61 meters. She shattered the old record of 14.07 meters, which had been set by Jean Marie Buckley in 1987, while posting the second-best mark in the Patriot League this season. Mokwuah also recorded a sixth place finish in the hammer with a throw of 37.65 meters.

Holy Cross returns to action this Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5, when it takes part in the Patriot League Championship in Easton, Pa.
