Jehyve Floyd Receives Richard J. Maloney Award
WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior forward Jehyve Floyd, a member of the Holy Cross men’s basketball team, is the 2017-2018 recipient of the Richard J. Maloney Award. Since 1981, the Maloney Award has been presented annually by the Holy Cross Varsity Club to the men’s basketball player who best exemplifies Mr. Maloney's spirit and energy as a loyal contributor to the program.
Floyd averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots per game this season, while connecting on 66.8 percent of his field goal attempts (165 of 247). He led the Patriot League in field goal percentage and blocked shots, while standing 11th in rebounding and 18th in scoring. Floyd also ranked fourth in the nation in field goal percentage and 30th in blocked shots. He led the team in scoring 11 times, rebounding 14 times and blocks 24 times this year, while scoring in double-figures 20 times.
Floyd was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to being selected to the All-Patriot League third team, the Patriot League All-Defensive team and the Patriot League All-Tournament team. Over the course of his career with the Crusaders, he has now totaled 531 points, 269 rebounds and 113 blocked shots with a .645 field goal percentage (233 of 361).
