Men's Hockey Announces 2018-2019 Schedule
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men’s hockey coach David Berard has announced the Crusaders’ 2018-2019 schedule. The 2018-19 slate will feature 34 regular season games and 16 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.
“Our philosophy is to play the most competitive and most challenging schedule we can play each year,” said Berard. “In addition to our 28 Atlantic Hockey league games, we have put together a tremendous non-league slate for 2018-19 with ECAC and Hockey East opponents on tap. Four of these teams will be among the top-20 teams in the pre-season poll. Thanks to our loyal fans and student body, our home attendance has increased each of the last four years, resulting in an electric atmosphere and making the Hart Center a very difficult place for a visiting team to play.”
The Crusaders’ will face off against three Hockey East opponents and three ECAC opponents. The schedule also features three teams who made trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2018.
Holy Cross will open the 2018-2019 season with a home Atlantic Hockey series, hosting Canisius on Oct. 12 and 13. From there, the Crusaders will hit the road to play ECAC opponents St. Lawrence and Clarkson on Oct. 19 and 20, respectively. On Oct. 26, Holy Cross will resume league play with a game at Bentley.
On Nov. 3, Holy Cross will welcome Providence to the Hart Center for a non-conference match up. The Crusaders will head back on the road for a two-game series at Niagara on Nov. 9 and 10. Holy Cross will return home to host another Hockey East foe, playing Massachusetts on Nov. 16. On Nov. 23, the Crusaders will travel to Merrimack for another non-conference game.
On Nov. 24, the Crusaders will host Bentley. The team will play a mid-week game at American International on Nov. 27 and then host the Yellow Jackets on Dec. 1. The Crusaders will close the first half of the season with a road series at Robert Morris on Dec. 7 and 8.
On Jan. 1, Holy Cross will play an exhibition game with the US National Team Development Program in Plymouth, Mich. Then the Crusaders will head to Mercyhurst for an Atlantic Hockey series on Jan. 4 and 5.
Holy Cross will return to the Heart Center with a series against Niagara on Jan. 11 and 12. On Jan. 17 and 19, the Crusaders will play a home-and-home with American International. On Jan. 22, Holy Cross will play its final non-conference game of the season at Quinnipiac. The Crusaders will then face Sacred Heart for two games on Jan. 25 and 26.
The Crusaders will then play six-consecutive home games, hosting Army on Feb. 1 and 2, RIT on Feb. 8 and 9, and Robert Morris on Feb. 15 and 16. The Crusaders will play a home-and-home with Bentley on Feb. 22 and 23 before traveling to Colorado Springs to close the regular season at Air Force on March 1 and 2.
