Baseball Set To Face UMass Tuesday, Wednesday's Game Postponed

  • The Crusaders enter Tuesday night’s contest with a 3-11 record.
  • This past Saturday the Crusaders split a doubleheader with Wagner in Washington, D.C., defeating the Seahawks 3-2 in game one and falling 6-2 in game two. To read the recap, click here.
  • Junior Anthony Critelli was named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week after batting 4-for-10 in the doubleheader against Wagner and securing the win in game one with a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth. To read the press release, click here.
  • Holy Cross was selected first in this year’s Patriot League Preseason Poll, as voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors. To read the press release, click here.
  • Freshman Austin Masel currently ranks second on the team with a .345 batting average on the season, and nine runs scored. He also leads the Crusaders with eight multiple-hit games on the year.
  • Junior Cam O'Neill has also had a strong start to the season, leading holy Cross with 10 RBIs and ranking second with six runs scored.
  • Senior George Capen is currently 3-0 on the year with six appearances on the mound. He holds an ERA of 1.17 through 15.1 innings pitched and ranks third on the Crusaders with 10 strikeouts.
  • The Crusaders return 24 players from last year’s roster, and welcome nine freshmen to the squad.
  • Head coach Greg DiCenzo enters his 10th season with the program.


  • Holy Cross’ game at UMass Lowell, scheduled for this Wednesday, March 22, has been postponed. A makeup date for the game has yet to be announced.
  • The Crusaders’ home game against Boston College, originally scheduled for March 14, has been rescheduled Tuesday, April 4 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field at 4:35 p.m.


  • UMass is currently 4-7 on the year, and are coming off a 4-4 performance at the Delray Invitational in Delray Beach, Fla. this past week.
  • Cooper Mrowka leads the Minutemen with 11 RBIs on the year, and ranks second on the team with eight runs scored while batting .366 on the year.
  • Justin Lasko has been one of the top pitchers for UMass so far this season, holding a 2.18 ERA in 20.2 innings with three starts.
  • Last season, the Minutemen went 18-27 on the year with an 11-13 record in Atlantic 10 play.
  • Head coach Mike Stone is in his 30th season with UMass.
