Holy Cross Announces 2017-2018 Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

Holy Cross Athletics   08-21-2017

WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross Director of Athletics Nathan Pine and head men’s basketball coach Bill Carmody have announced the Crusaders’ non-conference schedule for the 2017-2018 season. Holy Cross will play three games against non-league opponents that advanced to postseason play last year, and as many as six teams which posted winning records in 2016-2017. The slate also features five non-conference home games at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.

“It is important for us to prepare our team for Patriot League play with a tough non-conference schedule,” said Carmody. “The challenges and opportunities of this non-league schedule should set up our team for conference play and help us play our best basketball late in the year.”

Season tickets are now on sale for another action-packed winter of hardwood action. The Crusaders return nine letterwinners this year and add six promising freshmen to the roster as they look to contend for the Patriot League title! Season tickets start at ONLY $70.00 and can be purchased over the phone by calling 1-844-GOCROSS or online at GoHolyCross.com/tickets.

HOLY CROSS TO PLAY IN BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME BELFAST CLASSIC
The Crusaders will take part in the 2017 Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic, which will take place at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from Dec. 1-2, 2017. Holy Cross will face Manhattan in the opening round on Dec. 1, and will then take on either La Salle or Towson on Dec. 2.

CRUSADERS TO PLAY FIVE NON-CONFERENCE HOME GAMES
The home portion of Holy Cross’ non-league slate will begin with an exhibition game against Assumption on Nov. 1. The Crusaders will then play four contests against schools which won at least 18 games last season, beginning with in-state rival Harvard on Nov. 16. Other non-conference home games come against Albany (Nov. 25), New Hampshire (Dec. 9) and defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champion Iona (Dec. 19).

HOLY CROSS HITS THE ROAD FOR FIVE CONTESTS
The non-conference schedule includes five road games this year, including two contests against foes from the Atlantic 10 Conference. Holy Cross will face NCAA Tournament participant Rhode Island on Nov. 19, in addition to heading to Massachusetts on Dec. 6. Other non-league road games come at Sacred Heart (Nov. 10), at Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 22) and at Siena (Dec. 22).
